Extraordinary Ministers
of Holy Communion (EMHCs)
“[Jesus said], …my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him.”

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are those deputized by the Pastor to assist with the distribution of Holy Communion when there are insufficient Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (bishops, priests, and deacons).
What are the requirements to serve in this role?
To be considered for this role, one must:
Be a registered, safe-environment cleared parishioner of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church
Be a fully initiated Catholic (baptized, confirmed, receiving Holy Eucharist) with an active faith life: attending Sunday Mass each week, regularly going to confession, and having a habit of daily prayer
Be at least 16 years old
If married, the marriage must be a union witnessed by the Catholic Church through the Sacrament of Marriage
If unmarried, one’s single lifestyle must be in public conformity with the teachings of the Catholic Church (e.g., no cohabitation).
Additionally, one must attend a two hour training program and an annual re-commissioning training.
