Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are those deputized by the Pastor to assist with the distribution of Holy Communion when there are insufficient Ordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (bishops, priests, and deacons).

What are the requirements to serve in this role?

To be considered for this role, one must:

1. Be a registered, safe-environment cleared parishioner of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church

2. Be a fully initiated Catholic (baptized, confirmed, receiving Holy Eucharist) with an active faith life: attending Sunday Mass each week, regularly going to confession, and having a habit of daily prayer

3. Be at least 16 years old

4. If married, the marriage must be a union witnessed by the Catholic Church through the Sacrament of Marriage

5. If unmarried, one’s single lifestyle must be in public conformity with the teachings of the Catholic Church (e.g., no cohabitation).

Additionally, one must attend a two hour training program and an annual re-commissioning training.
