Dear Parishioners,
Over the past years, there have been numerous reports of individuals impersonating Fr. Bell, other priests of the Diocese of Dallas, and employees of Our Lady of Angels with email and text messages soliciting donations in the form of gift cards.
Please be aware that Fr. Bell, the Our Lady of Angels staff, and employees of the Diocese of Dallas will not text or email you asking for this type of donation. These are phishing emails. They are the most common form of phishing emails. This type of attack uses tactics like phony hyperlinks to lure email recipients into sharing their personal information. Attackers often masquerade as a large account provider like Microsoft or Google, or even a coworker.
If you receive any requests from Fr. Bell or the OLA staff from an email address other than ourladyofangels.com, please do not answer, and delete the message. Please note that Fr. Bell and the OLA staff will never send you a request for gift cards. We thank you for your patience during this time, and we ask that you please be vigilant when responding to suspicious messages.
We continue to hear from parishioners who have received these types of messages and we do appreciate your letting us know about them. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
