Interview Evaluation Any parishioner who would like to become a volunteer should contact one of the Ministry Directors to apply. The Ministry Director will answer questions about the ministry and complete an Interview Form for the Safe Environment file.
Screening Application New volunteers will be asked to complete a background Screening Form and must agree to adhere to the Safe Environment Policy and Guidelines. You will need to download and read the following Diocese of Dallas manuals: Safe Environment Program, Policy on Sexual Misconduct, and Social Media Policy.
Reference Check / Background Check The volunteer must satisfy a personal reference check and a criminal background check. Results of these checks typically take 3-5 business days from the date that the Screening Formis received. All personal reference and criminal background checks are conducted by an independent licensed investigation agency.
Save Environment Training Training (for all volunteers): Once your paperwork is turned into the parish office, please view the new online video of MinistrySafe. To view this video click on the "To View Training Video" button below and you will be directed to the Diocese Safe Environment site. Log on to "My Obligations" and enter your information (first name, last name, and street address). You will then be directed to the MinistrySafe site for your training. This is a comprehensieve video that will include such topics as: grooming behaviors, symptoms and effects of abuse on children. The video is offered in English and Spanish. The video will last over an hour and will include a 25 question test. In order to get credit for the training, you must make 70 precent on the test. After taking the test and passing, your yearly training obligation will be complete and it will be noted on your record.
Then each year you will recieve an email from the Diocese of Dallas that you need to take a renewal class. All renewal training vidoes can be viewed online.
