On August 14, a massive 7.2-magnitude earthquake hits Haiti, killing more than 2000 people and the death toll numbers increase. The shock leveled homes, leaving thousands without shelter. Countless others are injured and hospitals are overwhelmed. A donation to Catholic Relief Services can make a difference in the lives of the families who live there. In light of the recent surge in COVID cases and concern about the spread of the Delta variant, Bishop Edward Burns has postponed reinstating the requirement for Catholics to attend Mass in person in the Diocese of Dallas. The dispensation which waived this requirement had been scheduled to end on Sunday, August 15, 2021. Masses will continue to take place; however, the obligation to attend remains lifted.
Beginning Sunday, August 15, OLA will welcome back the 9:00 am Sunday Mass. We will continue to offer the Sunday Mass at 11:00 am & 5:00 pm and the Saturday Vigil Mass at 5:00 pm. We have divided our Worship Center seating into two sections are socially distanced with every other row of seats roped off and we require those individuals sitting in this section to wear a mask. The other two sections (in front of the music/choir area) is open seating and mask are currently optional. At the end of Mass, we will dismiss those in attendance by section. We ask that you remain in your seating area until that section is dismissed. Hymnals will not be available but we offer a QR Code for everyone to scan with their phone and the music and reading will be viewable on your phone. Please watch the video with Fr. Bell for more information regarding coming back to Mass. (Click anywhere in this section to view video.)
